While I get it to work in the GUI, running the beginners tutorial through a Linux terminal gives me the following output:

Attached property Antisymmetric to F_{µ ν}.
Attached property Accent to δ{#}.
- 1/4 ∫(F^{µ ν}F_{µ ν}}{x}
F_{µ ν} = \partial_{µ}(A_{ν}) - \partial_{ν}(A_{µ})
F_{µ ν} = \partial_{µ}(A_{ν}) - \partial_{ν}(A_{µ})
F_{µ ν} = \partial_{µ}(A_{ν}) - \partial_{ν}(A_{µ})
F_{µ ν} = \partial_{µ}(A_{ν}) - \partial_{ν}(A_{µ})
F_{µ ν} = \partial_{µ}(A_{ν}) - \partial_{ν}(A_{µ})
F_{µ ν} = F_{µ ν}
F_{µ ν} = F_{µ ν}

So aside from the weird brackets in the integral, it seems like it's completely skipping the definition of the action. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Also, if I can sneak in a bonus question, is there any documentation on how to run cadabra through a terminal specifically?

What does the first line of output read when you start cadabra2, e.g.

 Cadabra 2.2.9 (build 2387.f0a2a51a62 dated 2020-05-02)

?

(had to make an alias to be able to comment, but this is still me):

Cadabra 2.2.8 (build 8.6f5da61 dated 2020-04-07)

Are you running on a mac? Do you have an option to build the current version on github from source? I can't reproduce this problem with 2.2.9 here.

Running it through my uni's HPC cluster. The folks over there seemed pretty confident in their instructions on how to install and run cadabra, but I'll go double check to see if it's something on their end. I'll update if the problem persists, but in the meantime, thanks for the quick replies!

If they used a binary package, it's easy to upgrade, as the download page has packages for 2.2.9 for various linux distributions. Keep me posted.
